Lady Braves pick up pair of wins

By Jerry W. Kram

If there was any rust from more than two weeks off, it didn’t show as the Parshall Lady Braves posted two impressive victories coming out of their holiday break, beating the Berthold Bombers 66-47 and Kenmare Lady Honkers 76-32.

Against the Lady Honkers Tuesday, the Parshall girls put up a stifling defense that held Kenmare to fewer than 10 points in each of the first three quarters. Meanwhile, the Lady Braves were able to score pretty much at will, scoring 20 plus point in each of their first three quarters. The quarter scores were 20-6, 46-10, 66-19 and the final score was 76-32.

Cheyenne Packineau led all scorers with 24 points. Other Lady Braves in double figures were Michelle Risan with 17, Alexis Woods with 16 and Kiara Packineau with 10. Chelsea Nelson led the Lady Honkers with 10 points.

Strong defense and hot offense were again on display the day after New Years Day when the Lady Braves took on the Berthold Bombers. The Bombers were held to just 17 points in the first half as the Lady Braves prevented them from scoring a field goal for nearly six minutes in the second quarter. The score at the half was 33-17 and Lady Braves sealed the win with a 66-47 score.

Risan led all scorers with 28 points followed by Cheyenne Packineau with 17 and Kiara Packineau with 14. The Bombers top scorer was Mychal Fjeldahl with 12.
