Lady Braves topple Eagles
By Jerry W. Kram
In a key District 15 matchup, the Parshall Braves entered the Eagles Nest in New Town and brought down the Lady Eagles 78-62 on Tuesday.
“They were really prepared,” said Eagles Head Coach Chuck Wells. “But I’m glad we had this game. Now we know what we need to do. They really caught us off guard and they brought a lot of pressure.”
The Braves had won their last four games by more than 30 points, so head coach Dusty Olson was glad his team faced a more challenging opponent.
“We needed this game to show us where we are at,” Olson said. “We’ve actually matured a lot from the first few games of the season. We’re getting to where we need to be.”
Both teams came into the contest with good records. The Braves, 7-3, were riding a seven game winning streak after having a key player suspended for the first three games. New Town also had just three losses, two of those to top-10 ranked teams and other loss was by a single point. Neither team seemed to have an answer for the other’s big scorer as KK Fox put away 33 points for the Braves and Ivy Fox had 31 points for the Eagles.
“KK has been running 27-28 points for the last four games,” Olson said. “She’s playing her best ball right now. She can go left, she can go right. It’s really hard to stop her. I’m glad that she is coming out of her shell.”
