Netters ready for District Tourney

Both the New Town Eagles and Parshall Braves both finished off the regular volleyball season against the Burke County-Bowbells Titans. The Eagles handed the Titans a five set loss on Friday while the Braves took the first set on Monday but wound up on the wrong side of a 3-1 decision.
The Eagles played the Titans close in the first set and the score was tied at 11. The Eagles had a rally to take and 18-13 lead, but the Titans tied the game up again at 21. The teams traded side outs until the Titans scored the final point to take the set 27-25. The Eagles seemed to be in control after taking a lead in the middle of the second set and were up 20-17. However, the Titans took the last eight points of the game to go up 2-0 with a score of 25-20.
“The first set was really close,” said Head Coach Dyan Fox. “I told the girls that this was the last time playing in this gym. I let our seniors play the first set but then we had to go back to our regular rotation. In the second set I think we were a little slow coming off the bench.”
