Parshall blows out Westhope in home finale
Parshall blows out Westhope in home finale By MARVIN BAKER Parshall closed out the 2009 football season in style with a convincing 44-19 win over Westhope-Newburg before a hometown crowd Thursday night. It looked a little shaky early on as Westhope scored first to take an early 6-0 lead. But the Braves quickly roared back to tie the game on a Cole Hendrickson run from 12 yards out. The Braves then took the lead for good on a Hendrickson keeper for the two-point convert. From that point the game was never in doubt as the Braves reeled off 16 points in the second quarter and eight in the third before the Sioux were able to get a drive going late in the game. After Hendrickson’s run, Cody Billadeau broke it open for a 55-yard run and Greg Oster added the deuce to make it 16-6. Hendrickson took another run in, this time from 25 yards deep, and he also added the extra points. Then Billadeau scored his second touchdown, from three yards out, adding two more points on the convert. Jaren Enockson later scored on a 30-yard-run to paydirt to put the Braves in the driver’s seat. By then it was into the fourth quarter and sporting a 38-6 lead, the Parshall defense wasn’t too concerned when Westhope’s Steve Carlson took it in from 11 yards out to cut the lead to 38-12.
