The indoor season continues to be outstanding for the Parshall track and field team. The Parshall boys were able to take a commanding victory during the North Western Conference Indoor last Thursday without a single first place individual. The Braves, who collected 97 team points, defeated Des Lacs-Burlington with 73 points and Surrey with 59 points.
The team was short 7-8 eligible athletes and still were able to take the runner-up title behind a distance Surrey team. The Lady Braves scored 70 points ahead of third place Bishop Ryan and fourth place New Town.
“Everybody did so well, I think we scored in everything,” coach Harlan Johnson said. “It was an excellent team effort.”
Dexter Two Crows led the way with a second place finish in the 400-meter at 57.03 second. Also placing in the event was Tyler Severance at 1:03.28.
Kenny Wells did well again in the 800 with a time of 2:15. He also competed in the mile to come in second behind Alex Baker of New Town with a time of 4:49.41. Eighth-grader Scott Hale placed second in the 3,000-meter run at 10:40.20.
What helped drive home the championship was an excellent performance in the jumps. Two Corws placed second in the long jump with the measure of 19-4 ¼.
