Parshall boys snap skid, start streak

The Parshall Braves boys basketball team found themselves staring at a 1-5 mark with a four game string of losses. They snapped that streak decisively this week with three victories over North Shore-Plaza, Towner-G-U and Garrison.
The Braves faced the Garrison Troopers on Tuesday, and weathered a fourth quarter comeback to preserve a 56-49 victory.
The Braves and Troopers were evenly matched in the first quarter, but the Braves pulled ahead with 20 points in the second quarter for a 31-24 lead. The Braves revved up their defense in the third quarter, holding the Troopers to just seven points while Justin Roberts and Deyondre each added seven points for the Braves. In the final quarter, the Troopers went on an 18-9 run. However, the Braves sank five of 13 free throw attempts while the Troopers missed 10 of 17, which was enough for the Braves to preserve their lead.
"We got a little stagnant in the fourth quarter," said Braves Head Coach Wade Baker. "We won the third quarter but we still have to find a way to win that fourth quarter."
Roberts finished the game with 22 points and Simpson had 15.
Head Coach Wade Baker said the team is starting to play better in the second half of games. He said he was glad to see the team play well in the third quarter, but they still have to keep the intensity up in the waning minutes of the game. He said the team started trying too hard in the waning minutes and started making mistakes and turnovers.
