Members of the Bob Walsh Boxing Club in Parshall are celebrating this week after winning the North Dakota State Golden Gloves Tournament held in Bismarck last weekend over the Young Guns Boxing Club of Fort Yates.
Fred Fox Jr., Chace Hale, Scotty Hale, Jeff Hall, Dewayne Howling Wolf and Savannah Crows Brest all won individual titles to propel the Parshall club its first-place finish among the eight teams competing. A total of 11 fighters out of the Bob Walsh Club competed against teams from Grafton, Minot, Mandan, New Town, Fort Yates, Spirit Lake and Grand Forks.
In addition to the team title, Fox, 8 years old, was presented with the most promising boxer award.
According to coordinator Arne Grady, many of the fighters who work out in Parshall are new to boxing and put on outstanding performances. He said the fighters are proud of their accomplishments and suggested the community congratulate the fighters.
