Parshall moves on to second

Parshall moves on to second

round with win over New Town

By MARVIN BAKER

New Town used a little psychology to get by Parshall in its first game of the District 15 volleyball match, winning 25-21, but the Braves came back to win three straight and the match.

It was a case of injuries plaguing Parshall and the Eagles took full advantage to open the match. Parshall’s Sam Risan wasn’t dressed for the contest because of a back injury and during warm ups, Destiny Steele got hurt with a leg injury.

That forced Parshall head coach Lisa McQueen to put players into the game who haven’t seen considerable playing time. It took the first game to adjust, but McQueen said her team got its confidence back quickly.

"After New Town’s win there was a lot of emotion," McQueen said. "But after we got that out of the way, we started clicking."

After Steele’s injury, McQueen went with Britny Dixon who she said played very well against New Town.

Although she didn’t enter the statistics column, Dixon worked well as part of the team that quickly avenged the first loss.

Ironically, it was in the first game with New Town leading 13-9, that Steele came into the game and served up five straight points to give the Braves their first lead in the game.
