Parshall on a roll as tournament time looms
By Jerry W. Kram
The Parshall Braves Volleyball team is on a roll with back to back wins against New Town and Burke County with district tournaments starting on Monday.
After taking last week’s match with New Town three games to two, the Braves enjoyed their home court advantage over the Burke County Titans, winning the match 25-17, 25-16, 7-25, 25-9. Head Coach Amber Young Bird said that communication will be the key for the number three ranked Braves going into the district tournament.
"The third game they were not talking so we lost our momentum," Young Bird said. "The next thing they know the score is 15 to six and they didn’t realize how many points they had given up."
Yellow Bird has been working with the team to play more aggressively at the net, and against Burke County that paid off. Aulora Severanace had four blocks and Sheridyn Packineau had five kills to pace the Braves. The Braves setters were busy with Packineau getting 28 assists and Sierra Rensch 36.
"We set up a lot tonight," Yellow Bird said. "That was one of our goals. Hopefully at tournament time we will be, bump, set and spike. Plus our serves, which have come a long way since we started."
