Parshall opens cross country season
Parshall’s cross country teams opened the 2009 Class B season last week in Dickinson looking good for an inaugural event.
In the boys division, Kenny Wells finished third in 16 minutes, 3 seconds, just two seconds off the pace of Christian Brown Otter, a Bismarck High School runner and a scant one second behind New Town’s Justin Many Ribs.
“Kenny was 16:03 and he’s a sophomore,” head coach Harlan Johnson said. “That’s unreal for a sophomore. That’s a good test for the first meet.”
As a team, the Braves finished 13th, behind Bowman County and in front of Garrison, Shiloh Christian and Velva.
The girls did well also, fini shing second behind Bismarck in the junior varsity meet. Johnson was pleased with the result and said the girls will step it up in their next meet that was scheduled for Thursday in Burlington.
