Parshall’s track athletes are picking up right where they left off last year.
The Parshall boys scored 40 and finished fourth, while the 10th-place girls picked up 26 in the Beulah Miner Classic last week that was held at the Hazen track and field complex.
Not surprising, the boys took first place in the 800-meter relay in 9:24 with Trey Bruce, Kenny Wells Jade Moran and Scott Hale running the legs of that race.
In addition, Wells who won a couple of championships last spring at the state meet as a junior, qualified for state in the 3200-meter run with his time of 10:01, shading New Town’s Donovan Lambert by 18 seconds. Hale, and eighth-grader who continues to surprise coach Harlan Johnson, finished fourth in that race with a time of 11:04.
Other Parshall contenders included Wells finishing second in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:41, just 8 seconds behind New Town’s Alex Baker.
Miles Odermann, also an eighth-grader, had a good day, picking up 13th and 33rd in his two races.
