The Parshall Braves fought a close game against the Trenton-Trinity Tigers Friday October 5, now bringing both teams into sixth place.
“This was a close, hard fought game between two very evenly matched teams. We were concerned about their speed in the backfield and the explosive runs they have had this season” said Coach Mark Grueneich.
The Braves allowed just a single score in the first quarter with Hove scoring a touchdown. The kick failed bringing the Tigers to 6-0.
“Our defense did a good job of preventing the big plays – we did not allow a single long run. It was a good thing as our offense got off to a rough start with two turnovers – which forced us to spend most of the first half on defense,” Grueneich said.
For the first four out of ten rushes, the Braves held the Tigers to no gain or negative yardage. The Braves held their own, and were able to score in the second quarter with Two Crow scoring a touchdown with a two point conversion. Trinity rallied back with a touchdown from Kirklin, however, the run failed, keeping the Tiger’s lead to four, 12-8.
“While we did not give up big plays, we were not able to stop the Tiger rushing game and they burned off huge chunks of time with a steady march down the field.”
