Eagles, Braves ready for state meet
By Robert Blatherwick
Gale force winds coming down the finishing stretch may have slowed times but didn’t dampen spirits as Newtown and Parshall athletes put in last efforts before next weekend’s State Track and Field Meet in Bismarck.
The weather, which stayed mercifully dry, inhibited a few performances, and aided others. A few athletes slowed to allow others to qualify.
As it has for many years, the New Town Eagles took first place in meet with 116 points, besting second place DLB/Lewis and Clark by 29 points. Parshall placed 13th out of 19 teams with 17 points. The Parshall girls boasted three first place finishes on their way to a fifth place team finish with a score of 52. The New Town Eagles were seventh with 43 points. DLB/Lewis and Clark won the meet with 146 points.
