Eagles open season at home

It was a great April afternoon for baseball in western North Dakota as the North Shore-Plaza-Berthold Wildcats came to New Town for a high school doubleheader. Unfortunately for the Eagles, the Wildcats took both games.
Lucas Wollchlager, a lefthander, started game one for New Town and looked strong in the early innings, pitching well in the first and striking out the side in the second. He later got into trouble in the third when he walked a couple of batters and hit a couple of batters. The Wildcats’ Caleb Karna then tripled to empty the bases and scored on a throwing error.
Eagles head coach Orville Drosdal then brought Jesse Bear to the mound in relief, sending Wollschlager to first.
Bear settled down quickly and held the Wildcats in check, but the damage was done and the Wildcats went on to win the game, 13-2. The Wildcats scored eight runs in that wild third inning.
