Wolves push Eagles to limit

Wolves push Eagles to limit
New Town to meet Parshall in final
By Jerry W. Kram

New Town Girls Basketball Coach Orville Drosdal thinks the Lady Eagles play in one of the most balanced districts in the state. Proof of that came from the team’s semifinal game against the Watford City Lady Wolves which was in doubt until the final seconds of the game.
“Watford is a good team and we knew the game could come down to the final possession,” Drosdal said. “And it did.”
The Lady Wolves held a slim lead through much of the game. Watford City saw the first two periods of the game end holding five point leads of 16-11 and 30-25. Several of the Lady Eagles got into foul trouble early but Drosdal said the reserves stepped up to keep the team in the game.
“Fouls have been an issue for us all year long,” he said. “I think the first time we played Watford City we had 25 team fouls and they shot 32 free throws. Our aggressiveness gets us into trouble sometimes. Jaye Dawn Two Bears, La Riah (Quick Bear) and Jasmyne Big Crow did a great job off the bench picking up our starters and giving us some good minutes tonight.”
