Wrestling rejuvenation

Local champion helps rebuild Eagles team
By Logan J. Davis
Local wrestling fans can take heart because there is a rebuilding program taking shape to help rejuvenate the sport and develop future champion wrestlers. In the past several years, there has been a steady decline in the number of students participating in wrestling. What was once a powerhouse in North Dakota wrestling, the New Town high school wrestling program has diminished to the point where there was no varsity wrestling team in New Town this year.
Bronson Flynn was the lone wrestler for the New Town Eagles team last year as a senior. He is dedicated to bringing back interest and he realizes it all starts with the youth. Flynn and his fellow coach of the Pee Wee wrestling program, Darby Louden, see a lot talent in the young wrestlers who came out this year and the entire team enjoyed a lot of thrills and met many challenges at recent competitions on the mat.
