2011 preliminary budget shows little changes

By Michael Johnson, Editor

The Underwood City Commissioners had their first reading of the 2011 budget on Sept. 14 with no one from the public in attendance. City auditor Diane Schell breezed through the roughly 40-page document to give commissioners an idea of how the finances were looking for last year, this year and the coming. Schell cautioned spending as commissioners mulled over the idea of hiring another full-time employee that would one day replace the current city maintenance supervisor once he retires. "We’re just too small of a city to have two full-time people," Schell said.
