59 years of educating Underwood students

By Michael Johnson, Editor

Roger and Joni Britton have been a force of education of which generations have been able to be a part. They were honored on Aug. 22 as a couple that has a combined teaching time at Underwood of 59 years, Roger with 32 years and Joni with 27 years. The two were surrounded by their fellow co-workers during a special luncheon last week and many stories of those years together came out. For the teachers, like Julie Driessen, there were many memories to share about the two. Too many to share them all. Board member Sue Trautman wished the Brittons success and happiness in the future. Joni retired from the school five years ago and Roger announced his retirement this spring. “I really enjoyed working with two very professional people,” Driessen said. Ms. Shelly Hoff knew there were plenty of words to describe the two teachers so she asked to have the group name adjectives describing the two using the letters in friendship. She thought perfect friends was fitting for P.
