A Hometown Holiday full of cheer

By Michael Johnson, Editor

Streets were filled with music, kids were covered in peanut butter and shoppers found a few more gifts to check off their Christmas list. All in all it appeared to be a very successful Hometown Holiday weekend. The day started out early for many vendors that filled the Underwood City Hall gym full of goodies. The Kountry Kids 4-H group helped vendors bring in all the items and then went on selling food throughout the day. 4-H leader Alice Landenberger said the event was a great success. Having the place full of vendors really brought in the crowds throughout the day. The 4-H group sold out of food even though they made even more than last year. In the city council room, visitors could take a look at and bid on trees, which were donated by area businesses. All of the trees sold, and the money raised went to the local non-profit Underwood Arts Council. Kids shopping took place throughout area businesses and kids could get their stuff wrapped right there in the Small Business Development Center.
