Auto fans blown away at Classic

Folks were blown away by this year’s MidSummer Classic – if not quite literally by the 40 mph gusts, then figuratively, by the quality of the driving machines that were on display downtown.

"Other than the wind, it was a great day," commented Ramona Capps, who was the MC throughout the day. "It was a really great day. The wind was the only issue."

About 75 cars, trucks and motorcycles entered this year’s MidSummer Classic show, with awards given out in several different classes following the parade of entrants.

Underwood’s Fred Wilson garnered top honors, winning Best in Show with his 1970 American Motors Rebel Machine, while his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Brenda and Lloyd Hultberg, captured the People’s Choice award with their 2013 Chevy Camaro, Hot Wheels Edition.

Wilson was a double winner, reigning once again in the Ugliest Car division, winning with his "work car" Ford Taurus that has more than 300,000 miles on it.
