Bluegrass tour back in Bismarck

By Alyssa Schafer, Editor

Take down the Christmas tree and break out the banjo—it’s bluegrass time. That’s what Jill Wiese is telling everyone in the region these days, with the start of the 2010 bluegrass tour just days away. Wiese has been organizing a bluegrass concert in the dead of winter for five years now, and she said this year is even more fun. This year’s headlining band, College of Bluegrass, is made up of talented young musicians from East Tennessee State University. While College of Bluegrass has played for the event for the past three years, this is their first year as the headlining act. Former headliners for the event include national acts Blue Moon Rising and Special Consensus. This year, Jill’s daughter, Ashley Wiese, and her college friends are the main act. The six band members who will be playing on the tour are: Ashley Wiese, guitar, Coleman Smith, fiddle and mandolin, Chris Wade, banjo, Colby Laney, mandolin and guitar, Danny Stewart, bass, and Tyler Williams, who sings and plays guitar and keyboard.
