Board approves uniform refund

The Turtle Lake-Mercer School Board will be refunding the more than $4200 that was recently donated to the school to purchase boys basketball uniforms after a request was
made by the donor to have the money refunded. An immediate motion and second to refund the money were made at Tuesday’s regular school board meeting, but
several minutes of discussion followed before the board voted 4-2 in favor of refunding the money to the family of Marvin Hofer, in whose memory the donation was made.
The boys basketball uniforms would not have been purchased this year had the donation not been made, noted Supt. Sheila Schlafmann, because it was not the boys’ turn in the uniform rotation, adding that the offer to purchase the uniforms was made last spring.
