Bowen new Economic Development Director

Bowen new Economic Development Director
A new Economic Development Director has taken the reins in Underwood. Bill Patrie of Northcountry Cooperative Foundation of Mandan has hired Becky Bowen to fill the part-time position. The Underwood Area Economic Development Corporation contracts the position through Patrie’s firm. Bowen, a native of North Carolina, has lived in Bismarck for the past 15 years. She attended school on the East Coast and is a lawyer by trade. “My claim to fame is that when I came to Bismarck, I started the Northern Plains Ballet,” said Bowen. “So I am an entrepreneur as well and I ran it for ten years, but decided that after ten years it was time to turn over the reins to some younger folks.” Bowen said she is currently in the process of reinventing herself. “This is an opportunity that came up for me to grab onto and in addition to my legal background and entrepreneurial background, I also am a teacher at DSU and have taught at the University of Mary and Rasmusson College,” said Bowen. “Largely in business law and human resources law courses, but also some marketing and entrepreneurship, so this will be a great case study.”
