Central McLean had one confirmed tornado

The National Weather Service has confirmed one tornado in Central McLean County from the Sept. 14 storms that passed through the area.
But more are suspected.
According to NWS Meteorologist Jason Anglin, his office confirmed a tornado had touched down near the town of Mercer.
“Preliminary, we believe it’s on the higher-end of an EF-1,” Anglin said, adding crews were still on scene as of press time Sept. 16 assessing the damage.
Anglin said his team is busy going through the reports they have received in North Dakota, noting they were possibly looking at 19 confirmed tornados in the state.
“There were probably more (in McLean County),” He told the Central McLean News-Journal.
If the preliminary reports hold true, the state will have broken the record for the most tornados in a year.
The NWS reported the previous record was set in 1999 with 61 tornados. As of Sept. 13, North Dakota had had 58 confirmed tornados across the state.
“Although we are still working on confirming the number of tornadoes from yesterday’s event, we are confident there were well more than enough to break the previous calendar year record of 61 tornadoes, set in 1999,” the NWS stated in a release.
