Chamber adding new events

Members of the Turtle Lake Chamber of Progress are doing what they can to dispel the idea that “there’s nothing to do” in a small town, planning more events for this fall to keep people in town and bringing new ones in for the new activities.
A Fall Festival and a Winterfest were briefly discussed at Wednesday’s regular monthly chamber meeting, with several different ideas of activities for the events, but those attending the meeting were also focused on the recent Turtle Days, and how next year’s event can be bigger and better.
Next summer is the all-school reunion, so it will automatically draw more people, but those attending the meeting noted that new blood and new ideas are needed to bring some excitement and energy back to Turtle Days.
While the event is sponsored by the chamber, they noted, it’s not just a chamber event, and the only way it will be a success is if people bring in new ideas and help. The chamber decided to set up a Turtle Days committee, with an organizational meeting set for Tuesday, Sept. 3, at 7 p.m. at Marv’s Bar. Anyone interested in helping with Turtle Days is encouraged to attend.
