Three coaches had their work agreements approved at the Sept. 23, Turtle Lake-Mercer School Board meeting. Dana Cordova, Minot, will be the assistant girls basketball coach; Miles Sanders, Hazen, will be the Junior High Girls basketball coach; and Jeff Lane will coach junior high volleyball and teach elementary physical education. All were approved, 6-0.
School board president Brent Christensen reported on the building and grounds committee meeting. Instructor Bucholz, vocational ag, has plans for renovating the ag room. He would like to enlarge the tool room, create a hallway and have an office that is secure and can be locked.
Buchholz was also considering repairing the greenhouse, which would be pricey. The greenhouse is 10 by 30 feet and made out of corrugated light-diffusing panels. The catch here was whether the classes would continue to use the building enough for horticulture to justify the cost of repair.
Another item addressed by Christensen was moving a condensing unit out of the kitchen. It received a motion and okay, 6-0.
The old school building needs to be winterized and the temperature set at 40-degrees. No motion on this issue of maintenance.
The Cougar Co-op meeting is set for McClusky on Nov. 20, at 6 p.m. The survey on trapshooting was also discussed by the TL-M-M co-op committee.
