Coleharbor native develops lunar skid steer

By Michael Johnson, Editor

If man is ever going to survive on the moon, one of the first steps is to create some extreme mining equipment. And what better people than those who grew up near some of the biggest mines in the country. Jake Hultberg, a 2006 Underwood graduate and native of Coleharbor, is working on a project that he hopes may some day make its way to the moon. The University of North Dakota student was selected by his professors to be one of just a handful of students to help design a robot that could be operated on the moon. As a senior, majoring in mechanical engineering, Hultberg is working on the project in his senior design class. He is joined by five other mechanical engineers, four electrical engineers and two computer science students.
