Coronavirus hits three generations of one family

Coronavirus hits three generations of one family

Underwood’s Jayme Diffely readily admits she was a little skeptical about how serious the coronavirus really is, or how much impact it would have on healthy people.

After three members in her family – her dad, her husband, and her son – all contracted the virus, she’s not skeptical anymore.

“It kind of opened my eyes that anybody can get hit hard,” said Jayme. “They say it’s a very, very low percentage of people who get so sick, but when you know one of them, it hits a little closer to home.”

The first to contract the virus was Jayme’s dad Jim, 73, owner/operator of Hatze’s Repair in Underwood.

Of course there’s no way to be absolutely sure when he contracted the virus, he assumes it was passed to him from a customer who came into the repair shop.

He felt pretty lousy, lousy enough to close up the shop for a few weeks while he recovered at home – not willing to risk the chance he could pass it on to any of his customers.
