Cougars set to begin new era in 11-Man Football
The Central McLean Cougars will embark on a new chapter in program history this fall as they make the leap from 9-man football into the NDHSAA Class A 11-man ranks.
The transition begins Aug. 22 when the Cougars open their 2025 season with a road matchup against the Beulah Miners.
“Fall is always an exciting time of the year; it is fun to see and hear our student athletes back in the gym and on the field,” said Cougars Activities Director and Superintendent Sheila Schlafmann. “Central McLean has strong numbers again this fall in both football and volleyball in grades 7–12. While cross country, cheer, and golf see smaller numbers, it is still great to see kids out for the activities they enjoy.”
Head Coach Grant Singer, along with Assistant Coach Logan Staigle, will lead the co-op program through what is expected to be one of the most significant challenges the team has faced in recent years.
