County employee uses new policy to volunteer for the ambulance service
After the implementation of a new policy, the McLean County approved a county employee to utilize 40 hours of leave to volunteer on the ambulance service.
During the McLean County Commission meeting March 3, held at the courthouse in Washburn, Auditor Beth Knutson presented a formal request from Deputy Auditor Emily Retterath to utilize 40 hours of leave under the McLean County Policy 1301 – volunteer ambulance service participant.
Knutson said under the new policy, Retterath met the requirements to be able to make the request.
Through the policy, which went into effect Jan. 1, the county encourages employees to participate in providing voluntary ambulance service when needed.
