County K-9 unit benefits community

By Danielle Abbott, BHG News Service

Criminals in McLean County have another officer to be afraid of when violating the law. The K-9 Max has recently been called to more cases. And he continues to prove his worth and value to the community. Max’s training began in February when he was given to Deputy Kerzmann for two weeks for familiarization. In March Max began working with trainer Ray Becker for 80 hours of K-9 handler training. Max then received K-9 certification in Camp Ripley, Minn., in May. He was tested in narcotics, tracking and evidence search. Since becoming certified in May, Max has helped with dozens of cases around McLean County.
