Curb and gutter top priority

For folks who live in the Borchardt and Main Street areas of Underwood may think the city’s floodwater project is taking forever, but Bernie Weisz of Weisz and Sons., Inc, says a lot of parts of the project are done.

Some nice weather for the next couple weeks could ensure that the complete project is done, including re-paving of the streets that have been torn up to make way for the new floodwater drainage route.

"The main drain line is done," said Weisz. "It can drain from the north lake to the south lake to the lagoon.

"All that’s left is a little bit by the lumber yard. That’s the only piping that’s left, and that will be done this week," he said.

The area along the old US Highway 83 loop is almost done, too, he added.

"In a couple hours, it will be done," he said Monday afternoon.
