For the first time in 35 years, the Dockter is out.
Right now just seemed to be the right time to step away from coaching.
That’s what long-time high school football coach Kevin “Doc” Dockter said as he discussed his recent decision to retire from his head coach position for the Central McLean Cougars.
“Thirty-five just seemed like a good solid number,” said Dockter, who wrapped up his thirty-fifth year of coaching, amassing a 203-106 r ecord, and taking one last Region Coach of the Year title with him.
“So we won two-thirds of our games over a 35-year period, so I’m definitely proud of that,” he added.
He started coaching in the fall of 1985, and loves to visit with any of his former players.
