Feeder calf show changes with the times

The organizers of this year’s Dakota Feeder Calf show briefly thought about not holding the annual event, but after not being able to get the results from the past year’s feeding and finishing at the NDSU Carrington Research Center due to coronavirus issue, they were even more determined to hold this year’s event, even if it had to be pared back due to virus concerns.

There won’t be any community meals, there’s no “Cow Pie BINGO,” no “Beef Brisket Battle” or banquet, and no craft and vendor/ health fair up at the school. There is, however, the main event, the feeder calf show, set for Saturday, Oct. 17. The DCFS is in its 22nd year at the Turtle Lake Weigh Station.
