Firemen bringing house-on-fire to Harvest Fest

Plans for this year’s Harvest Fest in Underwood are well underway, as the community prepares for its annual summertime bash, set for Saturday, Aug. 13.

There will be plenty of events that will encourage both young and old to get up on their feet and start moving, starting with a 5K Harvest Run at 8:30 a.m., and finishing up with a street dance to RIFT, starting at 9 p.m.

In between, there will be scavenger hunts, a horseshoe tournament, an old-fashioned bake-off with some old-time music, an ice cream social, some "Firemen’s Fun", a tractor pull for kiddies and adults, and the annual "Quest" challenge.

Other events include a dance performance by the dancers who participate in the Junior Comettes Jazz camp that week, inflatable games, BINGO, a hot shot basketball tournament and a kiddie parade.

Teams of parents and kids will be able to team up against one another in the Parent and Me Selfie Scavenger Hunt early in the day, vying for top dollars in Underwood Civic Club Merchant Bucks, a championship Selfie Stick and, of course, bragging rights.

Merchant Bucks prizes will go to the top three finishers in both the Parent and Me, Tween, and Adult Selfie Scavenger Hunts, and the champions in each division will also win two Selfie Sticks.
