Central McLean will be hopping with ghosts, goblins and all sorts of spooky and ooky creatures the next week or so as the cities of Underwood and Turtle Lake celebrate Autumn and Halloween.
First up is this Friday’s Go Loco for Local soup cook-off and walk-about in Underwood.
Sponsored by the Underwood Civic Club, folks are invited to stop in at the local civic club businesses serving up their favorite soups, some of them going all out to set up an “experience” worthy of bragging rights, as they vie for top honors in the Best Soup and Best Experience categories.
Tasting will start (you pick where you want to start) at
5 p.m. And will run until 8 p.m. Participants are asked to bring their ballots to the city hall for tabulation.
BINGO and the new “Taste Buds Challenge” will bring folks to the Underwood City Hall for more fun, which will culminate in the awards presentation for the top soup and experience. A costume contest will also be held, with prizes going to the best adult male and female contestants as well as the best youth male and female entrants.
