Govens passionate about conservative views

At this point in their lives, they don’t plan on running for office in the future, but Turtle Lake-Mercer alums and current University of North Dakota students Victoria and Brooke Goven are already passionate about their conservative views. So much so that both of them joined UND’s College Republicans group this year.
They recently attended the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington, DC, with their fellow College Republicans, and that experience affirmed their conservative beliefs and their passion for being well informed about what’s going on in the country.
Aside from just being more informed themselves, they agree, they want to help ensure others are just as well informed as they are, and they consider it not just an obligation but a pleasure to openly discuss their beliefs.
They love getting into debates. Victoria noted that she loves to be able to educate people on what the conservatives feel is right, but added that she has also been given some thought-provoking information from some liberals.
“Sometimes with debating another person it’s like you go, hmmmm, that kind of maybe sounds like a good idea,” said Victoria, a junior at UND. “It gives you something to think about and do a little research on.”
