Hardware store to come down soon -- hopefully

Once it ’s checked for asbestos, and cleared for removal, the former Harper’s Hardware building on Lincoln Ave. will be torn down, potentially/hopefully this fall at the request of current owner Veronica Corona- Biederman of Garrison.

The demolition of the former hardware store brick building that was most recently home to Harper’s Hardware , Walther’s Hardware, and before that Olson’s Hardware (owned by Tony Stockert) was approved by the Underwood City Commission at Wednesday night’s meeting, contingent upon the asbestos abatement
that may be necessary before the building can come down.

The building has been unoccupied since the closure of Harper’s several years ago, and has recently suffered significant damage on the north side following storms.
