Harvest Fest fun returns

By Michael Johnson, Editor

Nights are getting cooler and the farmers are in the field. Must be time to celebrate Harvest Fest again. This year’s event takes place Aug. 11. The Underwood Civic Club sponsors and provides much of the volunteer power to put together the annual summer-time event. This year much of the fun from the past will return to make for another good time fit for the whole family. The question is, are you ready? While you may not think about preparing for a community event, there is plenty of competing to do while there. Run, walk or bike on over to the “Weeding Out Cancer” Relay 4 Life 5K Run/Walk/Bike at 8:30 a.m. The 5K begins at Pioneer Park. You can register at 8 a.m.  Organizer Jenn Olson said that the event will be a little different this year. Those placing at the top will win Merchant Bucks. T-shirts will be available for the first 25 racers. Those 55 and older can put on those walking shoes and head to local businesses – Underwood Farm Supply, Sodas and Things from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be Merchant Bucks hidden throughout the stores that you can then use there to buy items of your liking.
