Hoffman throws No-Hitter as Washburn downs Barons 9-1
Hunter Hoffman delivered a pitching performance to remember Monday night, hurling a complete game no-hitter to lead Washburn Post 12 to a dominant 9-1 victory over the visiting Bismarck Barons in Legion baseball action.
Hoffman was lights-out from the first pitch, striking out 10 Barons batters while allowing no hits across seven innings.
The lone Bismarck run came in the second inning and was unearned, the result of an error that allowed a runner to reach base and eventually cross the plate.
Beyond that blemish, Hoffman was in full control, retiring batters efficiently and keeping Bismarck from threatening again.
While Hoffman’s no-hitter stole the spotlight, Washburn’s offense backed him up with a steady and consistent attack, collecting 10 hits and scoring in five of the game’s seven innings.
Washburn took the lead in the bottom of the second with a pair of runs and never looked back.
