Living the dream

A picture of the oil industry is one full of fast paced, cutthroat and serious business men and women. One man laughs at that picture as he looks to get his share of the oil money and continue living the dream in Underwood.

Sheridan Matthews rolled into Underwood as a developer for Fox Run seeking to set up water for the busy frac sand trucking business. That’s when things went south for his position. He decided this was his chance to quit working for the man. He was going to start his own business competing against companies like Fox Run.

He came to the right place. He walked up to the McLean-Sheridan Small Business Development Center and upon reading that Sheridan in the name, he called it divine intervention.

There inside was Underwood Economic Developer Tyler Demars and administrative assistant Sue Trautman both ready and waiting to set someone up for success in a small business.

Matthews became the first to set up shop in the business incubator to start from scratch on his own business. The business incubator acts as a space in the SBDC for small start-ups for those who have few finances to afford an office space . Matthews has been doing his paperwork from that spot since January and he’s happily enjoying his first invoices this month.
