‘Branded’ headlines fair dance

The 4-H, FFA and open class exhibits will take center stage at the 57th annual McLean County Fair next week, June 7-9, as the fair gets underway Friday in Underwood, running through Sunday afternoon. The Mighty Thomas Carnival will be adding the sounds, sights and lights of the midway and the rides starting at noon all three days, just part of the exciting line-up on tap for the fair. There will be a variety of entertainment throughout the weekend, highlighted by the Ranch Rodeo Friday at 6:30 p.m., followed by the fair dance featuring “Branded” a hard-driving, country-rock band with an edge – and they’ll be located right next to the beer garden so folks will be able to quench their thirst after a couple spins around the dance floor. The entertainment continues Friday morning starting with the 4-H and FFA livestock shows, and the annual McLean County Fair parade takes to downtown Underwood starting at noon. A Native American dance demonstration by the Ree Stompers takes activities back to the fairgrounds Saturday at 1 and 4 pm, and there is a martial arts demonstration by the Garrison ATA at 2 p.m. The “Us Band” will be performing at the FREE STAGE from 2 ‘til 5 p.m. Saturday, entertaining right up until the annual FREE pig roast at 5 p.m.
