With an anticipated official sale date of May 1, 2022, Rainbow Energy is on track to take over ownership of Coal Creek Station and High-Voltage Direct Current Transmission System from Great River Energy. According to Rainbow Energy’s president Stacy Tschider, the company’s initiatives to bolster renewable energy and capture carbon will help “monetize the line” and maximize capacity, ultimately creating more jobs in McLean County.

“Local communities should find comfort in the fact we are doing carbon capture and renewables,” Tschider said. “We are committed to making this transition work, we have the expertise to do so, not just in the short term but in the long term.”
