‘We’ve been blessed with the best’

Krause’s grocery store is set to become part of The Market in January of 2026.
According to a press release received by Krause Owner Dalles “D” Krause Jr., they announced Oct. 21 they have reached a tentative agreement with The Market Owners Darin and Vallerie Hill.
“The family-owned business recently made the difficult decision to sell its grocery stores in Hazen, Garrison and Washburn, along with liquor stores in Hazen and Garrison,” the press release stated. “The name Krause’s has been synonymous with groceries, proudly serving Hazen and the local area since 1961.”
Krause, along with his sibling and Co-Owner Kari Olson, stated this has been “an extremely complex, emotional and financial decision” as they navigated the sale’s impact on “the both of us, our families, our employees and the community.”
“We have the utmost confidence in the Hill family and The Market for being able to serve our loyal customers with the benefits of a larger scale operation,” Krause stated in the press release. “In an age of big-box stores, and online shopping, being part of a larger group will help keep prices lower and selections higher in smaller towns.”
