McLean County Commission considers park projects, camping fee increases at April 8 meeting

A range of future-facing initiatives took center stage during the April 8 McLean County Commission meeting, including developments from the Park Board and discussions around new equipment for the Highway Department.
The Park Board portion of the meeting began with a proposal to allow a portable coffee shop to operate at Sportsmen’s Centennial Park.
The proposal would involve a coffee trailer stationed at the park on weekends—specifically Saturdays and Sundays.
Rather than paying rent, the business owner proposed establishing a commission-based payment arrangement.
Before granting final approval, the board emphasized the importance of proper legal and operational safeguards.
A motion was made to move forward with the project, with the stipulation that further information be gathered regarding business insurance requirements and all necessary permits. In addition, approval will be needed from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, as the park falls under their jurisdiction.
