McLean County prepares for epidemic

By Michael Johnson, Editor

Consider there is an airborne threat spreading across the country. Or a mosquito-spread disease is expected to be in your backyard soon. What can you do and where can you go for help? McLean County residents should take comfort in the fact that professionals in the county have a plan. About 30 members of the emergency, health and public services sectors from the state and local area came together Friday to provide input on the best way to serve the county, should an emergency arise. The question was how to make the Underwood City Hall a Point of Distribution in a time of emergency such as an epidemic, where all residents would need a vaccine or medication within 48 to 72 hours. Underwood was selected as the point of distribution because of its central location in the county and the availability of a large facility that is handicap accessible, Underwood City Hall.
