Nearly 50 locals beautify Underwood

By Michael Johnson, Editor

A touch up here and there went a long ways to making Underwood a cleaner, brighter and more inviting place to work and play last Saturday. The fourth annual Beautification Day brought out a record number of folks to work for their community on a warm and sunny day. Volunteers were able to completely clear out the Rose Theater of all the junk that remained inside. Underwood Arts Council members and many other volunteers from the community filled the back alley and front sidewalk with items from inside the theater. Crews from Waste Management were busy clearing out the town of curbside items and they spent extra time clearing away the mountains of garbage from the theater. In other parts of the town, volunteers were scraping and painting in Pioneer Park. Children from the area and the 4-H Club worked to pick up branches around the park, too.
