New face, new mission at Tiny Turtles

New face, new mission at Tiny Turtles

There is a new face and a new attitude at the Tiny Turtles Daycare in Turtle Lake.
In her third day as director of the child care center, DeAndra Viellieux (pronounced Veh-you), was still getting accustomed to her new role as a caregiver for the children at Tiny Turtles, but she was also looking forward to diving in and making some changes at the center.
“My goal is to incorporate more kindergarten-type of stuff. This is the age where their minds are sponges, and they want to learn and absorb, and the more I can teach them, the better,” said Viellieux.
Having worked as a paraprofessional at the Turtle Lake-Mercer School for several years, primarily working with elementary students, she figured the director position at Tiny Turtles would be a terrific fit.
“I really, really enjoyed that job and making a difference in children’s lives,” she added.
There are some basic spruce-ups she wants to do as well, like doing some painting to brighten up the daycare, and there are some other changes she would like to make that are more than just cosmetic.
