New trails planned for Brekken, Holmes
A new recreational trail will connect Lake Brekken and Lake Holmes north of Turtle Lake this summer. Designed for hikers, runners, bikers and birdwatchers, the Turtle Lakes Trail Loop will follow a figure eight pattern around the two lakes. The loop is approximately eight-and-a-half miles long. Organizer Steve Vettersays the project addresses a lack of recreational activities in Turtle Lake. “There was a study done and it said that we need more recreational activities in our community,” Vetter said. “So I asked, what are we going to do about this?”
