Post 133 honors fallen soldiers

Some things were a little different at the Turtle Lake American Legion Post #133’s annual Memorial Day Program, but the emotions of those in attendance were the same as they honored America’s fallen veterans. In an outdoor ceremony with chairs situated at least six feet apart, Chuck Hanson laid a wreath at the front of the veterans memorial in honor of
his father Doug, who passed away last month after having been a member of Post #133 for 50 years. Tears were wiped away by many of those in attendance as Valerie Guenthner read the poem “A Veteran Died Today,” which laments the fact that it is all too easy to forget about the veterans who fought for America’s continued freedom.
